Through the lens of music-making and the art of juggling — literally and metaphorically — "The Juggler's Song" explores neurodivergence, the art of self-expression, and relationships. Many of the poems share joys of growing up in a multi-generational household, especially the relationship between the author and their grandmother. Inspired by their classical music studies, the collection is organized much like a classical music performance: with three movements and an "intermission." But despite the juggler's initial upbringing full of classical training, they find that the greatest harmonies are created through trusting their body, as they re-learn how to improvise and go with the flow. Studying Deep Listening, as practiced by experimental composer Pauline Oliveros plays a big role in that process as they re-connect with sonic memories, while simultaneously staying tuned into the present. "The Juggler's Song" is a collection that celebrates the type of community, collaboration, grief and play that we encounter when staying true to our authentic selves.
